Responsible AED Disposal Made Simple

Automated External Defibrillators are lifesaving medical devices, but they do not last forever. When an AED reaches the end of its usable life, is replaced through a trade-in, or is no longer part of your emergency response program, it should be disposed of properly. AEDs contain electronic components and batteries that require responsible handling, which is why recycling is an important step for organizations replacing or upgrading their devices.

This partnership between Avive and AED One-Stop Shop helps simplify the process. Instead of wondering what to do with used AEDs, customers can follow a clear recycling path through AED One-Stop Shop’s Free AED Recycling Program. The program helps keep outdated AED equipment out of landfills while supporting a cleaner, more responsible transition to updated AED technology.

How the Free AED Recycling Program Works

To begin, complete the form on this page and agree to the Terms and Conditions. An AED Consultant from AED One-Stop Shop will follow up with the shipping information and answer any questions about what to include.

Customers are responsible for shipping costs, but there are no processing or disposal fees. AEDs must be shipped by ground only. Please remove the batteries from the AEDs and include them in the box with the device and carrying case. Electrode pads, paperwork, discs, cords, and rescue kits can typically be discarded separately to help reduce shipping costs.

NOTE: If multiple battery packs are to be shipped together, please isolate packs from each other using plastic bags, foam, bubble wrap, or other material to prevent battery contacts from shorting together and to protect the pack housings from damage.
