Are Your Employees Prepared? Importance of CPR & AEDs.
Meet Chris Knight who suffered a cardiac arrest and was revived by an AED defibrillator.
I recently recertified in CPR, AED, and First Aid to sharpen those life-saving skills that are oh so important. The class was at the local American Red Cross which is a key offering of AED One-Stop Shop, and both this respected organization and the instructor did a fine job. The class was attended by individuals with a wide array of roles and responsibilities and each came away with new skills, new insight and most of all a greater confidence should a crisis arise.
Does your company or organization train employees in CPR and AED? What’s the quality of that training? Does the instructor engage your people in their learning? Are enough employees trained or is it just a small response team? If AEDs are deployed, are employees confident to grab the device from the wall in an emergency or are they unaware or perhaps intimidated to use them? All these questions should prompt some thought. In short, AEDs are wonderful but only with the right training program can one optimize the likelihood of successful rescue from a cardiac event.
